Is it okay to bring a chipmunk inside for the winter?

I have a friend who has a chipmunk living in the insulation of a hot tub (the hot tub is on it's side and has a hole in the wall) and my friend wants to bring the chipmunk inside and feed it over the winter. I'm afraid that bringing the chipmunk inside will scare it to death. When I tell my friend this, she says that the chipmunk is used to human smell and should be fine. I want to keep the chipmunk outside because it is wild, but it would be cute to have it inside. Is it okay to bring the chipmunk inside or should it be left outside? If it should be left outside how can I tell the friend this in a polite manner, with evidence showing that it should be left outside? Is it okay to bring a chipmunk inside for the winter?
You should probably shoot it. It may have rabies. And thats disgusting to have a damn chipmunk in your house. Maybe in the cartoons its okay, but not in real life. What are you gonna do if it shits on your carpet? You cant potty-train a damn chip-munk.Is it okay to bring a chipmunk inside for the winter?
That depends on how hungry you are. Who can forget that old-time favorite, ';Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire';...
Its a wild animal. It can survive just fine outside during the winter, its probably done so several time before.

The risks you're putting yourself at when bringing it inside are:

fleas

being severely bitten

rabies

Then theres the fact that it probably will not survive in your care, simply for the fact that you wouldnt know how to properly care for a wild animal like a chipmunk. You cant plunk it down in a cage, give it rat/guinea pig/rabbit food and water and expect it to eat. Its probably going to be utterly terrified and the stress of simply being inside could kill it. Just because its used to human scent doesnt mean its used to having them right up in its face and not to mention any other pets you might have.

Just because its cute doesnt mean it automatically needs humans coming in and trying to turn it into a pet or caring for it.

Leave it where it is.
I agree, leave it outside, in its natural habitat. Your friend is doing much more worse than good, just leave it alone, it adaps to the cold.
no a chipmunk is a wild animal and needs to be kept out in the wild...they adapt to living out in the cold and it would be cruel to take it out of its natural habitat...

tell your friend that she will be doing it more harm then good by interfering in its life..
